First Publications

I was fortunate to be accepted as a PhD student of Professor Leonard Silverman, a prominent participant in international publications. Before graduating, two of my papers, written under his supervision. were accepted for publication in two international journals.

I finished my thesis in time to apply for jobs starting in the Fall 1973. I had the choice of 1) taking an assistant professor position with the (then fledgling) Department of Computer Science at Louisiana State University, or 2) accepting a post-doctoral position at the University of Toronto. Although I was torn between the two, I chose the LSU position.

As good fortune would have it, three years later I was offered a tenure-track position in the very same control group at the University of Toronto where I would have done the postdoc work.
