Data Refining Technologies, Inc.
Professor Doug Birdwell (University of Tennessee) and I founded Data Refining Technologies to develop and market specialized relational signal processing software designed to detect and solve operational problems in industrial production facilities. Data Refining was awarded a Phase I SBIR grant in 1993.
Data Refining participated in startup of the Wabash River Coal Gasifier in 1995. We implemented a signal storage and retrieval system to quickly analyze data during each phase of the startup.
Our real-time relational signal processing software worked well when we ran it, but it required too much specialized training to be viable as a commercial product in the industrial production automation market.
